Multi-agent contracts: modeling, monitoring and exception handling

Main informationBy: Paolo Torroni (Università di Bologna)

Date: Wednesday, 12th of January 2011, 14h00

Location: FCT/UNL, Seminar Room (Ed. II)
AbstractIn this talk I will present an overview of recent work done with my group in Bologna, and in collaboration with colleagues from Bogazici (Turkey) and NMSU (US), about modelling of contracts among agents based on social commitments. The emphasis is on the representation language, which has to be rich enough to model realistic scenarios. I will then show how to define time-aware commitments and their evolution, and discuss recent research on monitoring commitment states using the reactive event calculus. In the final part of my talk, I will discuss exceptional cases in which parties do not follow the contract, as they should, but they collaborate in identifying the reasons of exceptions and in suggesting possible ways to recover. I will illustrate the working of the overall framework using the jREC demonstrator.
