Location: FCT/UNL, Seminar Room (Ed. II)
AbstractQuestion answering often leads to multiple possible answers that require some ranking criteria.
Semantic networks are associative knowledge bases where candidate answers can be represented, amongst other known information.
The spreading activation method can identify semantic affinity between answers along the semantic network.
This similarity can be seen as mutual reinforcement, and thus such answers are promoted by a weight increase.
The process seeks a more plausible sort order in the candidate answer list.
Short-bioJosé Saias is a Teaching Assistant at the Computer Science Department of Universidade de Évora, where he is also a PhD student. In 2001 he graduated in Informatics Engineering at Universidade de Évora, in 2003 he completed a Masters degree in Informatics Engineering, also at Universidade de Évora. He submitted his PhD thesis in December 2009 and is presently awaiting public discussion.
